It’s Easy. Learn how a standard case starts and progresses.
We are often asked “What comes next?” or “What happens if I decide to hire you?” The process is actually a simple one and our goal is always to provide simple, stress-free and successful solutions. While different cases might follow slightly different paths, a typical case proceeds in 5 simple stages:
1. An information exchange
We start with the consultation. Our goal during your free consultation is to educate and provide sound, practical advice and information. We want you to make an informed decision concerning your individual situation. Should I fight my NY traffic ticket? Do I need a traffic ticket lawyer? What are the ramifications of a conviction? Can I avoid suspension? Few people are very familiar with the various agencies, courts and legal charges they are dealing with.
If you decide to work with us following the consultation, we’ll then need some information from you. Basic contact information (name, address, date of birth, etc) and case information (what violation, which court, what date/time). Once we have this information we’ll open a file and prepare our Introduction Package for your case.
2. Our Introduction Package
The Introduction Package is meant to get you all the information you’ll need and us all the documentation and information we’ll need to help your case proceed as smoothly and stress-free as possible. We will deliver your package by email, fax, mail…whatever works best for you.
3. Your case preparation
Regardless of how far into your case you retained us, we need to make sure a plea is entered, you are in good standing with your court, a court date is scheduled and everything is on track.
Just prior to your court date, your Case Manager does a Strategic Case Review to make sure we have all the paperwork we need and to get everything together for your attorney. You will be contacted by either your Case Manager or your attorney if we still need any paperwork or other information.
4. Appearance in court
Your attorney appears in court. What we do in court, of course, depends on which court it is, what type of case it is, etc.
5. Delivery of results
After a court appearance, we will contact you and let you know what happened. If it was a final court appearance we’ll provide you with a Closing Report and let you know what, if anything, you need to do next to effectively close your case.
