Criminal Matters
Traffic Misdemeanors
Traffic violations are not the only thing a driver needs to be concerned with when pulled over. There are a number of criminal cases that begin with a car stop and end with a misdemeanor or felony charge. Feifer & Greenberg regularly represents motorists on a wide variety of criminal offenses that stem from a driving related incident.
Examples of more serious criminal charges are Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (driving with a suspended or revoked license), Reckless Driving and DUI (driving under the influence of a controlled substance)
If you are summonsed to criminal court, expect to appear in person. Unlike traffic violations, most criminal matters require the defendant to appear in court. In certain cases, exceptions can be made.
While we understand that some individuals will inevitably represent themselves on certain traffic violations, we strongly advise people to proceed with extreme caution if they decide to represent themselves in criminal court. We recommend at least discussing the case with an attorney and understanding what the potential penalties are before making that decision.
